Jackie 4641 4 Posted October 4, 2017 Just curious. How long before typically can you sit down and have a small portioned dinner with family. I'm not there yet, my surgery was on September 18th, gastric bypass. I think I miss that the most. 1 njgal reacted to this
jess9395 5,449 Posted October 4, 2017 What does your plan say? They are all quite different. I was cleared for all solids by four weeks. Some things still didn't sit well with me and I still kept to the Protein first and opted out of whatever carbs they were eating.... but that's when I could have, say, a meatball while they had spaghetti or whatever the protein they were eating. DownsizingDonna 39 Posted October 4, 2017 Same answer as jess9395. I mostly cook the same for myself and my family. They don't need the carbs either.Sent from my Z981 using BariatricPal mobile app

I'm not there yet, my surgery was on September 18th, gastric bypass. I think I miss that the most. I also had surgery over a week ago. Very new. My docs told me liquid for 3 weeks. Then soft mushy food like tuna or eggs , cottage cheese, non fat refried Beans ... (all things that sound great, considering liquids get old fast) I smell what my family cooks and would love to cook some chicken myself . But that’s for an additional few weeks I’m assuming. DownsizingDonna 39 Posted October 4, 2017 Well, didn't say they were always happy about it, but my kids are grown now. My son is 26 and now him and his fiance live far away. He does love pasta! My daughter actually eats pretty much like I do, even when she moved out. She's back home now and really appreciates my healthy cooking. My husband is somewhat on the band wagon. But if they don't choose to eat what I cook, they can cook themselves or go out to eat, lol. And, agree that an athlete needs carbs for energy.Sent from my Z981 using BariatricPal mobile app
