I'm hoping to hear back from my ins. & get this scheduled before the end of November. Do you have to do two week of Clear Liquids before surgery?

Depends on your dr and your bmi. I only have to do 1 week. I am self pay too. Not sure if that matters though.

Hi all,

I'm from Texas and am waiting for an answer from my insurance for the pre-approval which was sent by my doctor's office yesterday for the Gastric Sleeve. I'm excited but SO nervous! I have 100 pounds to lose so I'm feeling overwhelmed. Looking forward to getting to know all of you and going through this journey with all of you!

Update! My doctor submitted the preapproval paperwork on october 5, UHC approved October 7. Surgery scheduled for Nov 9! I found out by calling my insurance directly.

I have my last dietician appt. tomorrow! Hoping I receive my surgery date soon. REALLY hope it's in November. Does anyone have any insight how I can ensure I get a November surgery date?

Call your Ins. if you are waiting on approval and make sure it is in rout. If they have already sent back the approval , call your Dr office and see what the hold up is and inquire on Nov. dates.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
