mylighthouse 782 Posted October 3, 2017 (edited) I was cleared to drink caffeinated coffee at 3 months. I started with 1 cup a day at the 3 month mark, did fine with it. Now at over 10 months out, I drink 2-3 cups a day with no problems. Edited October 3, 2017 by mylighthouse

JeffN 106 Posted October 3, 2017 If you drink a coffee you need to drink two times the amount of Water. Coffee dehydrates you. I drank a pot and a half per day and now I really don’t crave it. Converted all my coffee contraptions to do tea. 1 Doreen0716 reacted to this
mylighthouse 782 Posted October 3, 2017 Also, if you are just craving the flavor of a good cup of coffee, you can go with Decaf. That is what I did for the first couple of months before going to regular coffee. 1 Doreen0716 reacted to this
GassyGurl 428 Posted October 3, 2017 We are allowed caffeine as soon as we start getting in 64 Oz of Fluid per day. I enjoyed my 1st cup on about day 10.Now, I usually have Decaf, but sometimes I get regular if I don't feel like making a pot.BTW, is there such a thing as good decaf?Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app
Doreen0716 105 Posted October 3, 2017 I don't know if there such thing as a good Decaf I've tried several but I did find that Folgers has a half calf which I think I'm going to try but I really miss my dark roast yuban
jess9395 5,449 Posted October 4, 2017 Actually the coffee being dehydrating is an urban myth. Studies have disproven that. What does your plan say? Some doctors allow it soon others never. You trusted your doctor to operate on you, literally cut you open, you should probably trust their dietary advice. 1 njgal reacted to this

Doreen0716 105 Posted October 4, 2017 doctor hasn't said anything about caffeine yet I see him tomorrow so I'm going to ask him
JeffN 106 Posted October 4, 2017 All I can tell you is what I did to prove that coffee does have an effect upon my hydration status. I can only speak to what works for me. My Dr. told me to stay away from coffee because it aggravates the stomach more than the dehydration arguments.
Doreen0716 105 Posted October 4, 2017 Thank you jeffN i just seen my doc. He told me that it will aggrivate my stomache at this point, to wait another week when im off soft food stage but that i can have Decaf right now then in a week try the half caf if i feel i want to get back to drinking caff. JeffN 106 Posted October 4, 2017 As a food and coffee addict I can tell you that the longer I stay off coffee the better I will be. I have no problem going to sleep and I feel great when I wake up. You might want to look at Teeccino. I have heard a lot of people say it is really good and is very similar to coffee in taste.
