FluffyChix 17,415 Posted October 3, 2017 Holy cow. So sad about this! He was 3 years younger than my dad when he died. I will miss him, but am thankful for his incredible music. Mr. Fluffy and I walk to Tom Petty tunes every day! Me=sad monkey. Any other Petty fans out there? 3 zallykatz16, SeaSounders♥ and lindabalseca reacted to this
Berry78 4,261 Posted October 3, 2017 So sad My first job was at a Tastee Freez. There was a big old jukebox there, and I'd play "Into the Great Wide Open", like, every night while cleaning up... 2 FluffyChix and zallykatz16 reacted to this

Rainbow_Warrior 996 Posted October 3, 2017 I got a tweet from Zac Kahn ... Tom Petty was reported dead then not dead. Which makes sense because you can stand him up at the gates of hell but he won’t back down. ~~ Zach Kahn 2 FluffyChix and Apple1 reacted to this
Rainbow_Warrior 996 Posted October 3, 2017 And this wonderful sign off from one of Tom Petty's ensemble bands: www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMVjToYOjbM 2 FluffyChix and Apple1 reacted to this

I can imagine it now, "We're getting the band back together...!" 1 Apple1 reacted to this
kakatlady612 1,053 Posted January 20, 2018 Fluffy --'I just saw in my local newspaper that Tom Perry's autopsy results were released by the family. He died of a less-than-intentional overdose. He had been touring and performing with Hip and thigh bone problems, the thigh completed fracturing, apparently it had been cracked before, the pain patch and oral meds were too much for his system to handle and he just died. So so sad, I did like his music and, alas another of my generation is Gone. Seems like we've lost so many recently.Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app 1 FluffyChix reacted to this

Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app Yeah, we just saw that yesterday. Thanks for posting an update!!! I'm still really bummed about this for some reason. Kinda like Elvis I guess? It's so sad that he didn't get treatment sooner. But I have to wonder how much easier it was for him to go in his sleep with the pain meds than it would have been for him to have endured his progression of CHD and emphysema? We probably would have had another 9-10 years of his music, but at what price? Scary though about how the patch and pain meds are such a CNS depressant, right? kakatlady612 1,053 Posted January 20, 2018 I was thinking this morning about David Cassidy and Davy Jones of the Monkees. Tomkitten likes Wake up Sleepy Jean, I've been known to bounce around to Last Train to Clarksville, they were basically a put-together band for their TV show but were still pretty good. A lot of their music was written by Boyce and Hart but towards the end of their run they wrote some themselves. One of Elvis's I liked was Cold Kentucky Rain, Eddie Rabbit wrote it. Just full of trivia, ain't I? General consensus is I've been full of something for years and I only get spunkier as time goes by. Fool me once, shame on you- Fool me twice , shame on me! I actually was a Ricky Nelson fan, one of his last was Garden Party, one of my favorite lines- it's alright now, I've learned my lesson well, if you can't please everyone then you'd better please yourself. So so true, so Puddycat is gonna become smooth &sleek, you're gonna fly like an eagle and our lives will be so so much. better. Did I tell you I also have lymphedema? Especially my left leg, never been quite right since knee replacement the 7th of last February. Take it easy, stay breezy and remember you've always a fan here in Ohio.Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app 1 FluffyChix reacted to this
FluffyChix 17,415 Posted January 20, 2018 Dang! Sorry to hear about your lymphedema in the leg. That's got to SUCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKK!! I know how awful it is in my arm, but at least it's not weight bearing. I hope you get your surgery, lose the weight, and then can do some kind of corrective, restorative or debulking surgery afterward. "They" say that losing weight will help with it. But it's difficult to imagine. I did have a 1st crush on David Cassidy. LOL. And loved the Monkees. I liked Elvis but Mom didn't, so we didn't' listen to much from him as I grew up; until I was older and out on my own. Loved Ricky Nelson and remember being so sad when he passed as well. Time catches up with us all. Love your attitude and hopeful spirit! Cheers!
