What kind of OTC liquid pain meds

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Just a comment: Check with your surgeon about what pain meds are acceptable with the band. My surgeons paperwork said no Ibruprophen (NSAIDS) - like, forever...But Tylenol was Ok.

I asked my doc about the ibuprophen because I can't take Tylenol. He gave me the ok for that. There is no adult liquid ibuprophen, per the pharmacist, but name brands have the adult dosage on the box. Hope that helps

thanks everyone, I dont have much luck with tylonel mysleft but I will still begiving it a try. I think I will havebetter luck if I can alternate ibupforin (if doc allows it) and tylonel.

For the tough stuff, my doc gave me liquid vicodin (a lifesaver right after the surgery!). But for regular aches, pains, headaches, I got Tylenol Blast! (I think it's called). It's adult strength. And cherry-flavored! I'm sorry that you're uncomfortable and hope you find something that works for you.

I use the liquid Tylenol (Rapid Blast), but NOT the PM one. There's a PM one in "warm vanilla" or some such nonsense that could eat paint off the walls.

If I have a sinus headache, I will do the liquid Tylenol followed by 1/4 or 1/2 dose of liquid Benadryl.

There are chewable Tylenol too, "Go Tabs" or something like that. They do work, but man - they're nasty. I only use them when I travel, so that I can pack them in my carry on and don't need to worry about the liquids issue.

Oh, there are also dissolve strips Sudafed now. My sinuses are often an issue for me when I fly, but I can't really do pills... and it's a pain to crush something at the airport. I saw these the last time I was looking for some Dimetap or something liquid to help clear my congestion. They worked very well!

I was out of luck. I had liquid lortab from the surgeon post-op, but when I went to get a liquid pain med, the pharmacy I went to DIDN'T HAVE ANY! Sam's didn't either.

I was getting frustrated, so I went to the dollar general and bought the children's liquid tylenol. It tasted horrible (gum flavor). And I had to drink a lot of it to be '1 dose' for adults.

I still haven't seen any liquid pain meds at my stores. When I ask the pharmacists, they give me funny looks. Just like Iron, I was looking for liquid iron supplements, and they didn't have any and said they could only order a pediatric version.. and when I said it was for me, they were baffled. I found some online I am debating getting, but liquid meds are hard to come by in my city some reason.

I'm waiting for Equate or some other generic version of the liquid Tylenol. These guys know they've niched into a market and they're milking it for all it's worth.

I buy 5 bottles at a time (it's often out of stock so I like to make sure I have some) and it costs me about $35. A bottle of the liquid gives you 8 oz, so you're right around 1 dollar per dose. So totally worth it when you need the pain relief, don't get me wrong, but the same thing in tablet form costs about 4 cents.

What is a good chewable Vitamin. I bought cetrum chewable, but man they smell nasty. this is crazy, but my sister and I hid behind my bed when we were little and shared a whole bottle of flinstone Vitamins. We had to have our stomachs pumped and to this day the smell of most chewable vitamins makes me want to puke. I've got to figure out a way to overcome this.

If chewables bother you, there are liquid vitamins. There are kinds that come as a bottled drink (vitamins mixed in), and "concentrates" where you swallow a spoonful and have your daily dose. I've not tried them, the carb counts were higher than I could justify for a Vitamin, but if you can't stomach the chewables they're one alternative. Here are some examples.

I've read in a lot of other weight loss surgery forums that people get the Viactiv soft chews for their Vitamins and Calcium. I haven't tried them because I was concerned how much they break up before you swallow it ..like does it melt or what? I don't want to swallow some taffy like substance and have it get lodged in my band ..that would stink.

As for pain meds ..I also get the cherry Tylenol Rapid Blast ..but I was wondering if BC powder would be ok for headaches. I have never taken it but when reading this thread, that came to mind.

For now, I still have a nice big bottle of liquid Tylonel with codine, from my surgery ..so I'm going to treat that like liquid gold and only use it when I REALLY need a pain killer.

I called my surgeon yesterday about getting my prescriptions before surgery so that i can have it all ready at home.

She said that she no longer prescribes the liquid hydrocodone because it doesn't seem to hold peoples pain long enough. She said that she prescribes the pills to be cut in half and swallowed, and nobody has had any problems. This kinda scares me, but I trust her and she has done this before. i definately want the best pain control. So, I 'm wondering if I can just cut a Vitamin in half as well. They are probably bigger than the pain pill.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
