megamedic691 21 Posted October 3, 2017 I am due for VSG Surgery in mid December. Before I gained weight I used to be a weight lifter. Nothing serious nothing pro. But advice and tips on weight lifting leading up to and after surgery? Any advice and words of wisdom are welcome. In prep for my surgery I have started lifting again. I have made some gains but nothing serious... yet. What do you use for pre work out? How soon did you get back to lifting after your surgery?
DaleCruse 756 Posted October 3, 2017 The answer to the question of when to start any type of training is very individual. Some never move a muscle & let the surgery do all the work. IMO that's not the best way to go. Pre-surgery, as long as you're doing it safely, lift away! After surgery, depending on your tolerance, you may start light with walking & no resistance. I was on a treadmill two days after surgery. I started working legs & then arms a few days later. A week or so later I slowly started introducing ab work. Your mileage will certainly vary. Good luck! 2 Sosewsue61 and Reddawg reacted to this
