Hello from Winnipeg

Recommended Posts

First time ever posting. I will be banded on Nov 2 along with my daughter and sister. We are all travelling to Toronto to the TLBC. We will be banded by Dr. Yau.

We are still learning what to expect from reading all of the postings.

Anyway we are all very excited to get started.

Thanks...

Hi Lindyloo. My name is Linda and I remember, way back when, the milkman on our street always used to sing Lindy-Loo, I love you. I think it is great you are coming to Toronto with family to have this done. My sister and I are going to have this done in Toronto also, just a different clinic on November 21st. I am so scared about the actual surgery but so excited to think of myself as being slim in the future. What made you decide to come all the way to Toronto to have this done? Are you all ready for it? Take care!

Hi, We are going to Toronto because they don't band here in Winnipeg. We are starting our pre op diet tomorrow. I am as ready as I'll ever be. Doing lots of research and reading lots on this site. My sister and daughter are worried about being hungry. I am worried because of some health issues. But I am confident that things will all work out.

Looking forward to having the surgery so I can have an off-button for my appetite.

Thanks for the note, PS my name is Linda as well. Have a great evening!

Hi Lindylou!

I think it is great that all three of you are having this done at the same time. It is nice to have someone there for the whole journey. I am so happy my sister and I will have it done together. We keep thinking of all the new clothes we can buy a year from now.

Have you had a consult with the doctor and the clinic TLBC? I have read from other posts that the doctor there is nice. Will you have your surgery in the hospital or in the actual clinic there?

My sister and I went for a consult in Toronto at the surgical weight loss centre. They do the surgery in the clinic. I am so darn nervous about the surgery. My sister has no fears of it but worries about the fills.

I guess I will start the Optifast after halloween so I can still eat some candy.< /p>

Please let me know how you and your sister and daughter do I wish all of you all the best!

Linda

Hi,

Everyone at the TLBC is great. I was banded Oct 11th by Dr Yau. How long do you plan on staying in Toronto after your surgery? I flew home 2 days later.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
