GassyGurl 428 Posted October 2, 2017 I had high BP, high cholesterol and pre diabetes. I'm off all meds and I'm 7 weeks post op. I am 45 and have never seen a cholesterol number below 200, since I was 20 years old. My latest is 162, down from 325.Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app 5 ButterflyNinja, Apple203, Sosewsue61 and 2 others reacted to this
Waler 330 Posted October 2, 2017 I was on medication for diabetes, High Blood pressure, cholesterol and a CPAP. The day after my surgery my surgen came to see me and asked me if I brought my meds from home. When I showed her I did she took them and threw them in the trash and told me you will not be needing these any more, and she was right. 2 ButterflyNinja and LillieDuFran reacted to this

All of my co-morbidities resolved in 6 months. That was within only losing about less than 1/2 of my excess weight. LillieDuFran 127 Posted October 2, 2017 I have not yet had my sleeve (Thursday, yay!). My doctor said he normally discontinues meds (BP, diabetes, statins) with surgery. However, as a cardiac patient, I needed okay from my cardiologist on the statins. He said absolutely not. I take a 20 mg statin and also a twice monthly shot for high cholesterol. I have had a triple bypass which failed after 6 months, which was crushing. SO even though your bariatric doctor is great, be sure your other long-term doctors are on board. It's always about health. My bariatric doctor was not offended or upset. He truly cares about my health!
