How much time off work, realistically, should I ask for? I work in an office so not labor intensive at all. My husband's had the sleeve back in December. The wife took 4 days (she's a surgical technician) and her husband took a week (manual labor supervisor).

Thanks for the help!

I had surgery on a Tuesday and was back in the office on Monday. I'm a desk jockey. Depending on how well you handle anesthesia, you may want to schedule a full week or 10 days off.

Thanks Diana! I've had 6 other surgeries, and tolerated anesthesia very well. My main concern is pain and fatigue. We're you exhausted much?

I had surgery on a Tuesday and went back on Monday. I was fine, until around 1 pm, then I felt exhausted. It wasn't horrible though. I did take a nap after work every day of that first week back though.

Just take it easy, and allow yourself the right to take more time off if you need it. Good luck!

I had surgery on a Thursday and was home on Friday. Off all pain meds by Sunday. I took the a full week off and then worked from home the next week. I probably could have made it back to work if I had to but being able to take breaks and lie down for a few minutes was super helpful. My biggest challenge was the fatigue which gets a little better each week. Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
