What is going on??

Recommended Posts

Sleeve was on Monday the 25th. Been off the pain meds for 24 hours now. I'm still so unbelievably dizzy and light headed. I'm walking and trying to get all my fluids/protein in. My hands get jittery and I actually break out in a cold sweat from walking to the mailbox. I'm wondering if I'm not getting enough calories in. Today I got 1 Protein Shake, 1 packet of cream of wheat instant and 1 Greek yogurt. It has take me all day to eat that!

And maybe or maybe not related I started passing old blood clots vaginally. What the heck is up with that?

Surgery often starts periods early or late.

Make sure you are getting enough to drink. Milk-2%, if you can tolerate it, can be helpful. Has sugar, Protein, and fat.. AND counts as a Fluid.

If you keep feeling bad, call your surgeon.

Yeah I got my period 2 weeks early, like 3 days after surgery. It was terrible.

What you're expressing sounds like dehydration to me, though. Your body can do okay on very low calorie counts, but without the fluids it freaks out. It can make you nauseous, too; dizzy, with black spots, shakiness, etc. Make sure you're just drinking CONSTANTLY!!

I got my period hours before surgery and I haven’t had it in about 9 years because I take birth Control packs back to back. It was seriously out of left field and awful! I guess the anxiety of surgery messed up my body. I got some super sexy mesh undies in the hospital.

See your dr anyway about the period issue common or not.

I started my period three days after surgery - 2 weeks early and some of it was old blood. And then to top it off I kept spotting up until recently. It has been 18 days since I had surgery. I am glad to hear this is pretty normal.

It takes a while to get out of that fog from the anathesia (spelling) and if they gave you morphine like they gave it to me- whew!!! But you might not be getting enough Water also. I don't know if you are diabetic but you might want to check your sugar.

Sounds like dehydration. You also have some blood loss during surgery couples by you menstruation I would make sure you are taking your Iron pills as well.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
