bettybooping 29 Posted September 29, 2017 So I have someone become addicted to researching the nutritional values and several of the food items that I want to eat. But I just looked up red grapes and did not realize they have 12 grams of sugar in them and 23 g of carbs. And that is for one cup of grapes my mother says I should just have the cup if I really want some what does everyone else think?Sent from my SM-N920V using BariatricPal mobile app
RickM 1,750 Posted September 30, 2017 This is one of those "it depends" things. Some are really into the low carb thing and wouldn't touch them. I never concerned myself with carb counts, just overall nutrition. Sugar is some concern, but more the added sugar in processed foods than the intrinsic sugar that naturally occurs in our fruits and vegetables and are bound up on Fiber and slower absorbing. If you are diabetic/formerly diabetic or insulin resistant, it's a bigger deal than if you are not. For me, if Protein is taken care of for the day (which it usually was), and it was within my caloric budget, it would be fine.

Samara1974 116 Posted October 5, 2017 I agree with Rick, plus you probably won't be able to eat the whole cup. For cravings, I usually wait a few weeks before I indulge to see if it is a fleeting whim. If it is still there after that time has passed I have a a tiny bit of whatever it was I was craving to get rid of it. I wish I could have grapes but even eating just one hurts, so no grapes for me.
