I second the Soup. Ask to make sure you get a non-spicy one.

Are you eating out with people who are aware of the surgery? If they don't know about it, I wouldn't suggest Soup. I tried that it is was impossible to hide how little I ate. My new co-workers as well as two waiters kept asking me what was wrong and if they could bring something else. I'm five weeks out now and still avoid soup with people who don't know. It's a whole lot easier to order something "soft" and play with it and push it around and make it look like you are something. My 2 cents.

This is where saying something like.. "the Soup is great, my tummy just doesn't feel the greatest right now" would take care of it.

As this first lunch was two weeks after surgery and I was starting a brand-new job with brand new co-workers I didn't really want to discuss tummy issues with them. Lol.

I went out last week and ordered grilled shrimp and veggies and did a fine job of eating a few shrimp and smashing my veggies. Whatever works. It's different for different people and I think that is why they were wanting different opinions. Makes sense I think.

I ended up eating a crab cake, I asked how was done and it was baked. So it was yummy, but then I tried one small spoon of my husband salad and since then I've been having this sharp pain every time I eat. The pain is on the left upper side, I think is gas, because it get better when I burp.

I know that the said lunch already passed but just wanted to add for people who might read this in the future that Meatball Parm is a good choice because it's Protein based, it's easy to eat and it tastes great the next day :) .

I would get Soup. Still mad cuz I have to stay on full liquid plan for the rest of the week and I'm 4 weeks out. :-(

Isn’t there a whole bunch of sugar in the sauce? Maybe I’m wrong.

I had my first restaurant night out since surgery (51 days ago) last night (Saturday 2nd Dec) when my wife's retail staff had its xmas gathering at a Thai restaurant.

It galled me a little paying $AUD40 when I knew I was "eating small".

Out of an 11-course Thai banquet, I was very picky.

One small curried vegetable samosa, one medium battered prawn tail, one small crab money-bag, one small vegetable spring roll. I than waited about 15 minutes and sipped a large glass of Water.

Round Two: I picked out one medium prawn from a stir fry and a chunk of salmon (about 50 grams).

Then, over the next hour and a half while sipping more water, most of the other 25 people offered me more of the mounting 'left-overs' on the trays and plates ... each of which I declined.

When pressed, I just said (truthfully) ... "I had a long day in the pool trying to reshape my body. I'm predominantly eating small Protein hits and few carbs for a while." That seemed to pass!

[n.b. I swam three hours breaststroke Saturday morning plus half an hour of chest-deep 'wading'.]

- - -

As my first major outing after surgery, I was very pleased that I passed scrutiny.

As I said a few weeks ago, we do not have Thanksgiving here in Australia so waited longer than most of the early October sleepers for the test of my resilience at dinner.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
