Apple203 1,314 Posted September 29, 2017 (edited) Hey guys and gals, I just learned I have a floating hiatal hernia. Will this diagnosis preclude sleeve surgery? The radiologist said that almost half of the bariatric pre-surgery patients he sees have this condition. Edited September 29, 2017 by Apple203
Introversion 1,876 Posted September 29, 2017 Nope...the surgeon repairs the hiatal hernia on the operating table at the same time he/she creates your gastric sleeve. A hiatal hernia repair will add 90 seconds to your total surgery time. I also had a hiatal hernia and it was repaired while I was sleeved. 1 Apple203 reacted to this
Apple203 1,314 Posted September 29, 2017 Thanks for the information!!! I've wrapped my head around the sleeve, so that's good to hear (well, to read).
