Help

My husband's insurance(UHC Choice plus) does not cover WLS. So now I am back to square 1. I was thinking about getting BCBS from my employer. I need some advice on what to do. I desperately need this surgery.I have co-morbidities such as high blood pressure and BMI of 45 and my PCP stated in my last doctor visit that I would be a candidate for lapband surgery. Please help me:cry

Can someone please tell me where to find forms or advice for filing an appeal with the insurance company after being denied?

I'm sorry but if your husband's policy has a weight loss surgery exclusion, an appeal probably won't be successful. This was the plan chosen by his employer who no doubt selected the WLS exclusion to save on premiums.

In my experience you general need a denial letter before you can appeal, and the requirements for an appeal are provided in the letter. Good luck.

You can get the surgery done in Mexico for as little as 8000. I was a self pay and had to get money from my retirement fund. My doctor in Mexico was great and everything is included in one price. Good luck. Donna

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
