Gastric Sleeve and Hiatal Hernia Repair

Recommended Posts

Hi! I was sleeved 9/18 and doing pretty good so far except for the constant pain/gas in the middle of my chest. Literally every swallow of Water, Soup, SF Jello, SF pudding etc -- I feel it. Even when I am not consuming anything, I feel it sometimes. I am still able to mostly get my protein/water intake in but I am just so uncomfortable and miserable due to this:-(

I did have my hiatal hernia repaired during surgery so I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue with their recovery after having the sleeve and hiatal hernia repair? When did it finally start to go away or feel better?

Thanks!!

I had my sleeve done on January 17, 2017. I also had a fairly severe hiatal hernia repaired at the same time. I had the gas pains for about 4 days after getting home, and I was back to work full time exactly 1 week after my surgery. I was tired and a bit uncomfortable, but I had no problems going back to work that soon. My recovery has been quite uneventful, and I have had absolutely no problems. I am down 72 lbs at this point, and have about 30 more to lose to be at my goal weight. The weight loss has slowed down significantly at this point, but my eating has also not been perfect. I do still have a lot of restriction, especially if I eat my Protein first like I am supposed to. If I eat things I am not supposed to, like chips or bread, they go down way too easy and don’t fill me up, so I avoid them all together. I have not had caffeine since December, except for a couple of coffee here or there, and I don’t really eat any carbs, other than veggies. No foods with extra sugar, and definitely no candy. I was able to get back to my full workouts about 4 weeks after surgery, and get up at 4am every day to workout before I go to work. I feel great, and don’t regret for a minute the decision that I made to have the surgery.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
