I found walking is key to recovery from the surgery. Don't be afraid of a leak that will consume your recovery, have faith in your Surgeon. Follow the post diet, listen to your body you will know when to move to the next phase. I had to make a checklist for meal time to remind me of the rules like no straws. Also, the list will help you avoid autopilot mistakes like I did. I was making a zucchini Soup and poped a couple of cubed zucchini in my mouth two weeks out from surgery and ate them.

I’ll just say I started using straws maybe 4 days after surgery. I was grabbing an iced tea for maybe the 3rd time and didn’t realize till that one that I had been using the evil straw for all of them. I have no problem at all.

I'm 3 weeks out now and on soft foods and couldn't be happier. I've lost nearly 30 pounds this past month and I'm tolerating most everything just fine. I am SO glad that I had this surgery and look forward to many, many happy and healthy years ahead of me.
