I am getting sleeved October 10th and I have PCOS. I'm really worried this isn't going to work for me because I have struggled so much in the past. I'm happy to see you're having success with it! It gives me hope.

@leslaine, you look great! Thank you for encouraging me to have faith because I definitely want to work hard and get results. How is your eating habits now? Are you still following the program? Protein first, veggies, fruits, and carb?

@teedsg, Thank you! The honeymoon phase ended for me 6 months post-op, and some of my bad habits wanted to creep back in. Be sure to take advantage of those first 6 months where you have the most restriction and rarely get hungry. I've slipped a few times, but still have managed to stay on track by following the program. Stay away from slider foods because you will not feel any restriction when you eat them. I can eat 5 chocolate chip Cookies if I wanted to, but can only eat 1 egg. Just make smart choices every day.

I'm starting to get a lot of compliments/made fun of less and less in public, shopping for clothes is a lot of fun - All of this is giving me the drive to finish this. :)

Awesome! Thanks for the tips. I hope popcorn isn't a slider for me. I miss it so much.
I'm glad you are staying on track

I'm three months post op today and have PCOS. My weightloss so far has exceeded my surgeons expectations. My endocrinologist was really happy with my progress so far too. She just checked my hormone levels and wants to compare them again in three months. So far I've been following the diet plan and just started exercising again a couple of weeks ago. Total lost is 83lbs, 60 since the preop liquid diet. I'm hopeful my hormone levels will be in normal ranges by this time next year so I can go off my two meds that help control them.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
