How long were you off work?

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I was wondering how long all of you were off work after your surgeries? I work in a hospital and do a lot of heavy lifting. I would like some idea of a timeframe. Thanks.

I was off 2 weeks because of the drains and pain ball that I went home with. I have an sit down office job and the lethargy was incredible. If I could have taken another week, I would have done it in hindsight.

Any sort of lifting one month post op should not be considered in my opinion. Of course, your surgeon is the one you really should ask and abide by. Don't listen to strangers on the internet!

I work in an assisted living facility for the elderly, I help with showers, trash and making beds I don’t really lift anything heavy but I’m on my feet almost the whole shift(8 hrs) I took off two weeks and I’m still tired at work during the day but I wasn’t sore or anything, I was put on lifting restrictions for 3 weeks, nothing over 25 lbs

I went back after six days, but I only work 6 hours a day, and my job doesn't require any lifting. It sounds like your job is much more intense, so you will need more time.

Good luck! If you have the time available, take it!

Hi I had my surgery on a Friday and could have gone back to work the following Tuesday, but I had a JP drain. Went back 10 days after surgery. Energy level was incredible and had no pain. I have a desk job.

i had 4 weeks off-and still came back to work pretty tired. But realistically I could have gone back after two and just dealt with it.

I live in California and have kaiser. It's a standard 4 weeks off, no lifting over 10 lbs for that 1st month. People have a choice of going back sooner after meeting with dr. I'm taking full month off because i still get tired quickly. But if needed I could have gone back after 2'weeks.

I had surgery on Monday and went back to work the following Monday (this week). Everyone thought I was crazy but I wanted some normalcy in my life. I am taking it slow and leaving early. I sit at a desk all day so it's not physically hard but I am tired when I get home, always fall asleep for a few hours on the couch.

I work from home but took two weeks off. I'm glad I did. The lethargy and lack of energy would have been impossible for my job. Though it's a desk job, I need to be sharp and to be able to think clearly and quickly, and there was no doing that for at least two weeks. More realistically? I think it was 3-4 weeks before I could say I was starting to feel remotely mentally sharp again.

I took 4 weeks because I could. It was great to have the time to learn new habits.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
