SampTheChamp 234 Posted September 28, 2017 I took 2 weeks, I think if I was out longer I would go stir crazy. I am a teacher and it's crazy but I miss my high schoolers!Sent from my SM-N920V using BariatricPal mobile app Hi I had my surgery on a Friday and could have gone back to work the following Tuesday, but I had a JP drain. Went back 10 days after surgery. Energy level was incredible and had no pain. I have a desk job.@bettybooping I'm a physical education teacher and in the process of wls. Do you think it would be possible for me to return to work in 2 weeks if things go well? I was hoping to have it done over my Christmas break. Thanks Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app

I will day if they send you home with pain meds only take them IF you need them, otherwise they put you to sleep and you will take longer to recover. I stopped taking mine the 2nd day I was home and got out and walked to rebuild my strength.Sent from my SM-N920V using BariatricPal mobile app
FlyFatA$$Fly 155 Posted September 28, 2017 Hi all, I was wondering how long all of you were off work after your surgeries? I work in a hospital and do a lot of heavy lifting. I would like some idea of a timeframe. Thanks.DR Potential SleeverI'm a pilot, and have to be off 8 weeks per the FAA.

Angel11 126 Posted September 28, 2017 I had my surgery last Thursday & my first day back to work was today. I don't have a strenuous job. I was glad to get back to my regular routine. I guess it all depends on your employer & how you are feeling
CindyAnne 3 Posted September 29, 2017 When, I go to back to work on Monday, I will have been off for about 5 weeks.
erd 7 Posted September 29, 2017 I’m taking two weeks off, just about done with the first week. After that I’m working from home for 4 more because of the nearly hour drive to my office. 1 sjack reacted to this
AsianBeauty 78 Posted September 29, 2017 I'm taking 6 weeks off. Using short term disability. My employer pays 100% of your pay, so I'm taking full advantage of it and taking the whole 6weeks with pay... You should check with your employer to see if they offer short term disability. Plus a saved up and paid up all my bills so that while i waited for my pay checks things wouldn't fall behind.

As I'm sure you can relate, being out for long periods of time is really difficult...losing instruction time, prepping for subs, worrying about destruction of the classroom, haha... I just don't see me feeling comfortable mentally taking more days off...but I also worry that physically I will struggle, too.
