Full Fat Mayo, cottage cheese, and yogurt

Also I eat Splenda instead of sugar. I did this prior to surgery anyway.

I do eat the lower fat options and I have to say that I don't mind a whole lot, but I am particular about the brands I choose.

For cottage cheese, I stick with Knudsen for the most part, but Kroger has a storebrand that is also quite yummy. My favorite way to eat it is with avocado and tomato--way better than the pairing of cottage cheese and fruit.

I like "light" mayo, it tastes the same as full fat to me (but again, brand preference is best foods, although Great Value can be substituted when necessary).

I found that Wishbone low fat ranch is acceptable to me. That's where I struggle right now. I'm a die hard Hidden Valley Ranch girl. I guess surgery will resolve this problem for me for a while since salads will be out for a good bit! lol

I love vegetables and ancient grains (quinoa, millet, buckwheat, etc.).

Good carbs from whole grains are so nutritious and research shows this. It is the processed, highly refined carbs and sugar that we need to stay away from.

I am almost 7 months out and down 70 from SW. I slowed down considerably. I don’t count fat, just Protein but I wonder what a good carb range is for the day.

Hi, I had similar SW 244 almost 50 down from start weight, and I am not sure what my fat range is but I know it has fluctuated depending on what I am wanting to eat, but my weight did race ahead, when my fat was lower, and carbs I can't say I count either, but assume its low because I do not eat rice, pasta, bread, I am allowed it on my plan but it does not stand out to me to have it, your doing amazing can wait to get to your weight! My goal is 135, so 59lbs to go!!

My plan from my surgical team is low carb and doesn't limit healthy fats (as in naturally occurring fats not transfats)

I don't have a problem with mayo either... I use Best Foods/Hellman's and their ingredient list seems reasonable. I find some foods too dry (tuna mostly) especially when I was early out and the mayo helped.

And before anyone goes crazy about the added sugar it's less than a half gram per serving...

I am so glad to see this thread! I'm still in the liquids phase but am remembering when I was on various weight loss plans in the past and they pushed fat free dairy products as the best choice. I never particularly liked them but ate them anyway because I was told I should. I've been starting to think about what I'm going to do when I can eat again and if I should go fat-free. I think this thread has convinced me not to.

I like the Organic Hellmans. It's been fine on my stomach and I'm 16 days post op. Also the best way to really consume mayo is if you make it yourself. It's fairly easy if u have a food processor. recipes all over Pinterest.

I actually started this thread because I cannot stand the taste of low fat dairy ( except for some yogurts). My advice to you if you can handle the low fat versions of cheese, mayo, sour cream, and the like, is to go with them while you're trying to lose your weight. I, myself, just can't stand them. I am also on full liquids. Good heavens. Five more weeks of this?!?! Someone has GOT to be kidding me. A little low fat cheese is starting to look like Nirvana at this point.🤣

I’m following a Keto style diet which is pretty much what is advised for bariatric dieters. I concentrate on Protein, then fat and avoid carbs. I follow the plan that I’ve attached below. I have this on my fridge to remind me.

Read the book "Why we get fat and what to do about it." By Gary Taubes

Fat is good, and the low fat craze was based on bad information. Fat does not make you fat. Carbs( sugar) make you fat.

Yea bad carbs (sugar) and any processed food. I can't wait till it's nothing but Whole Foods and Proteins. It's hard to do now on nothing but liquids and pureed food.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
