Full Fat Mayo, cottage cheese, and yogurt

Recommended Posts

I'm not a fan of the low fat versions. Did anyone eat the full fat version of these? It would seem that as little as we can eat, one should still lose weight. Anyone eating the 4% cottage cheese and 2% yogurt?

Yes, me. Tolerating it fine and refuse to eat fake food like 0% crap. It's old science to think that fat free products are the way. Although I'm sure some people will have tolerance problems. I AM going to give up sugar though.

mayo is full of rubbish though. Fats that any body has difficulty processing.

It's unfortunately never been a problem for me. I say this preop. That could change.

I eat full fat cottage cheese, mayo, ricotta, etc. I stick to greek yogurt. The low fat versions typically have more carbs and don't taste good. Based on the small amount I eat it has never been a concern.

mayo is super easy to make yourself -- oil, egg, mustard, salt, immersion blender. There are recipes all over the web because this is a Whole30/Paleo thing.

My NUT is big on the no-fat/lo-fat thing, but I am not going to abide by that mantra. I do sub avocado for mayo sometimes - great in tuna salad. I have read a study that seemed to see a correlation between no-fat/lo-fat and gallstones - I know that probably the opposite was concluded as well....but I do know some fat helps w Constipation issues.....I intend to put a teaspoon of oil/fat in my shakes post-op.

Huh, I never did non/lol fat and I had a terrible gallbladder emergency, out it went. So the avocado thing- you mash it and mix it in tuna? No mayo? Interesting....crazy, I'm such a foodie and now I have to relearn a whole new way of eating!

Full fat all the way.

I also think (based on research I've read) that artificial sweeteners aren't good for us so I stay away from them too. I try to eat real food as much as possible and limit the ingestion of man-made chemicals and other modified food products.

Someone recommended this book: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005CVV2AE/ref=oh_aui_d_detailpage_o02_?ie=UTF8&psc=1, which I found to be an interesting read. It makes a good case for fats.

I am 10 months post op and have lost 100 pounds since surgery date. I have never worried about the fat intake. I get anywhere from 60-80 grams of fat a day. Good fats. I eat quite a bit of almonds which are high in fat. It has worked for me.

@MissT_SR mash avocado, add a little squeezed lemon, add tuna - yum. Even the grandkids love this on triscuit crackers.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
