smariev 4 Posted September 24, 2017 I am new to this site but would appreciate any advice. I was sleeved the end of July of this year. Right before I reached my 4 weeks post op I became very sick and found out that I had a small leak in the staple line. I spent a week in the hospital and am now going on my 4th week of 24 hour TPN through a pic line in my arm. I really need to go back to work and am not sure if I can handle it. Since being on the TPN I have experienced major fatigue, heartburn, occasional stomach ache, and body aches. I tried to apply for Disability, but my line of work apparently does not pay into disability insurance. I am just wondering if anyone else works while having a TPN and how do you feel? swimbikerun 1,046 Posted September 24, 2017 I wasn't tired on TPN after I got out of the hospital. I was a bit worn the first few days but went back to work after that. I had a backpack and had it in there, so it was odd with the backpack but no one really figured out the line going under was into the arm. It may be the issue of what nutrients you are getting. Are you getting blood pulled 2x a week? 3 Sosewsue61, smariev and dmpsam reacted to this
smariev 4 Posted September 24, 2017 Thanks for the feedback, I am just getting my blood drawn once a week. I will talk to my doctor tomorrow about the fatigue.
Sosewsue61 3,185 Posted September 26, 2017 @smariev so sorry for your complications. Where are you located and what line of work are you in?
Sosewsue61 3,185 Posted September 26, 2017 Well I was uneducated about short term disability, apparently ONLY five states require employers cover STD. When I worked my company did have the STD insurance available and our state does not require it.... So awful that only 5 states require it. 1 smariev reacted to this
smariev 4 Posted September 26, 2017 Good morning @Sosewsue61, I work in the education field and they do not offer disability insurance. I assumed everyone did but I was wrong. 1 Sosewsue61 reacted to this
