Isopure has 40g of Protein and tastes pretty good, at times a bit sweet. I also got a flavored water additive from Bariatric Choice. Only 15g of protein but I think they taste better and are a bit cheaper. They also have little shots, like 5 hour energy, think they were 18g.

This one is my favorite. It is a liquid that you pour in Water.

Hopefully they still offer free shipping for you!

At Vitamin Shoppe and GNC they sell clear Isopure with 40 grams of Protein I suggest you Water it down or use lots of ice!!! I also can drink muscle milk (lactose free) they have a 20 gram liquid shake with 100 calories. I wasn't able to use the powders or drink milk products so the isopure is the best for me

My surgery was on sept 6th. I usually have 1 pre mixed Protein Shake in the am, Greek yogurt and cottage cheese during the day. Just those 3 almost get me to my goal. chicken salad, a Protein dense Soup or a latte usually rounds out my day. I found that when I tried eating foods that were less protein dense or tried to drop the shake, I struggled to get to goal. I'm eating between 700- 800 cal a day.

I was drinking Premier Protein shakes pre and post surgery and it constipates me very bad and causes a lot of trouble. Can anyone shed light on their Protein choices and how they effect their BM’s

That’s Protein supplements in general plus lack of Fiber and healing and residual from pain meds and anesthesia.

Add some soluble fiber like benefiber and some usoluble like Metamucil.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
