Ok so I am a little frustrated at the moment. My bypass was on 8/25. On 9/5 my nutritionistchanged my diet from Clear Liquids to full liquids. I have been on full liquids since and I am dying over here. I can't tolerate any of the Protein Shakes so she finally is allowing me to have 1% milk and yogurt but I still haven't had any pureed food. I see most of you on here talking about being on puree two weeks out and I'm just wondering what is going on with me. Is my DR just trying to torture me 😭 I'm craving eggs so bad and she says it will be atleast another month before Eggs are introduced.

Gee, that does seem like a long time on liquids only. What was her rational for that? If everything is healing properly, if it were me, I'd experiment with some soft foods. Hope things work out for you! Keep us posted :-)

You probably can’t have eggs because you can hardly tolerate Protein shakes.. makes sense hun. I would wait until your body can allow food intake. Hang in there .

I agree with SGIRL35. I'm sure they're being cautious to allow healing inside as well. My Dr. is conservative as well. I had one week clear liquids, but 2 weeks full liquids. I will be going to pureed at week 3. So being on the liquids is getting old, I understand that - but what has encouraged me is remembering I DO NOT WANT TO RISK COMPLICATIONS! I read a horror story about someone that had leaks and multiple complications. But I get what you're saying, you just have the desire. I'm sticking to the list of approved stages & liquids/foods on those stages. As far as your Protein, what has worked for me is GENEPRO (one Tablespoon in Crystal light is how I take it) unflavored, disolves great. 30 gm per serving. So I do that twice a day, and with the yogurt it gives you the 70gm goal. My Dr. recommended 60 - 70gm goal. I found the GenePro at GNC.

She says that the dr performs surgery different than other dr which is why his diet is different. Everyone keeps telling me to experiment but I'm so scared to end up in the hospital. I'm really hoping Thursday they give me better information and that I can start feeling better soon.

I have ulcerative colitis. I have never been able to drink Protein Shakes since they diagnosed me. Sorry should have provided that information. So far I have followed everything by the book but I'm just starting to feel like I'm the only one not able to eat a month in.

Girl this is week 5 for me 😢 this is why I am so frustrated I really feel like they aren't advancing me at the right speed. Really hoping Thursday they give me some explanation because I am super scared of complications so I really don't want to experiment without some guidance.

I hope they explain too, and that all works out for you to be able to advance then. I had 5 questions at my first visit at one week out, so I wrote them out (so as to not forget to ask the Dr.). At some point when I had a few questions for the Nutritionist, I found out when I called the office, she promptly returns emails, and that worked out good when I couldn't reach her by phone (busy seeing pts.) - I don't think they suggest or give people the email address unless asked. Just thought I'd share that for future correspondence if it helps in between appointments, it sure helped me! Anxious to hear how your appt. goes, God bless!

Mary, do you think the delay in advancing your diet plan is related to the ulcerative colitis?

Ok so I couldn't wait anymore and I called yesterday and did a phone consultation with the nutritionist. They have advanced me to puree stage but she says this will be for another 3 weeks and that it has nothing to do with the ulcerative colitis that it's just how the dr likes his patients to advance at and slow pace.

Why is Your dietician controlling your diet phase? I would think the dr would take care of that. In my opinion that’s like a nurse trying to diagnose and treat..

My dr only deals with the actual surgery everything else is handled by his in office nutritionist. I found it weird too but he's been doing it this way for 20 years.

I'm glad you called them and got it figured out. That's good it has nothing to do with the ulcerative colitis.

I honestly feel so bad for you guys. In Austria, the whole different stages goes like this

Surgery day - IV fluids
Day 1 - Clear liquids
Day 2 - Full liguids
Day 3 - Puree
Day 4 - Solids with some exceptions.

I had no problem what so ever. Small bites and chew forever was the rule.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
