Fobi Ring for sleeved patients

Recommended Posts

I've done a little research on the Fobi Ring. Its purpose is to help you later not to gain weight back. Has anyone had their Dr suggest it or does anyone sleeved have it? Inquiring minds want to know.

Never heard of it. Sounds too much like a lap band. Not interested in something that is going to cut into and erode my stomach, when it is already small enough. It sounds like path to full gastrectomy.

This is like the 3rd post about this in the past few days. Wonder what the new interest is.

I guess Sleeves aren't long term profitable enough for surgeons.

If a Dr was trying to selling me a band over my sleeve I would think they were not confident in their surgical skills. A properly formed sleeve doesn't stretch and doesn't need a band.

Not to mention im willing to bet this gimmick isnt covered by insurance, and more importantly neither would complications of it.

If a sleeve doesnt work talk to your doctor about converting to a bypass. If a bypass doesnt work either revisit therapy/nutritionist and discuss with your surgeon if youre a candidate for band over bypass.

And as for the reason that theres so many recent posts about it, I would bet on it being targeted spam (and possibly people reading about it and asking questions). Even googling it theres so very little about it out there which means its likely not performed often with good reason.

Regardless probably a bad idea and I think people would be far better off sticking with main stream solutions

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
