brookus 0 Posted October 16, 2007 I don't have any advice, but I am right there with you! My surgery is 14 days away, and I am starting to get nervous, too. Every once in a while, I will think to myself, "What the heck am I doing?!?!" I chalk it up to nerves. I usually just offer up a quick prayer..... it helps calm me. make33 2 Posted October 16, 2007 Hi you guys! I was just banded last Tuesday and believe me, I was ready to jump out of my skin the last week before surgery! I kept thinking, maybe there's an easier way to lose all these pounds--- and not face life as a diabetic, with hypertension, arthritis, and kidney failure--after all, I've been SO SUCCESSFUL in the past:D This is a great tool, but it IS permanent--you will so get through this and you WILL be glad for the choice you made--longer life with plenty of quality. The very best wishes to both of you...
godzgurl75 0 Posted October 16, 2007 Thank you for for the encouraging words. I am very excited but yes the nerves are getting to me....but not enough for me to change my mind....lol.....I also keep all of this in prayer and trust me I know HE is in control and going to take good care of me. brookus 0 Posted October 16, 2007 I also keep all of this in prayer and trust me I know HE is in control and going to take good care of me. Then you know you are good hands!! Now, if I can remember that before going into total emotional meltdown mode, I've got it made ....
MYSTERIO12 1 Posted October 16, 2007 Greetings, You guys will do fine. I was banded on May 23, 2007 and it's been awesome. I'm down 55 pounds and still shrinking. Just remember that this is the beginning to a new healthier you! You won't regret your decision and when the pounds start coming off and the energy comes back, you'll know you did the right thing! Good luck!
make33 2 Posted October 16, 2007 The morning I went for surgery, I thought my favorite saying of all time, "Help me to know, Lord, that nothing is going to happen to me today that you and I can't handle". :biggrin1:

Griz Girl 0 Posted October 17, 2007 I'm right with you guys--I only have 8 days until surgery:faint:I started to question whether or not it was the best thing. I wondered if maybe I should just do it on my own--blah, blah, blah. What really helped me was to take some before photos for myself. Looking at myself objectively on the camera screen helped me let go of any doubts about how much I want to reach my goal. Of course those photos are now well hidden until I have some dramatic results to compare them to!!! :biggrin1:
fourshadow 0 Posted October 20, 2007 You all will do fine! I was in that same boat with you - nervous as can be - second guessing all the way up to the operating room doors! More of a joking second guessing, but I was majorly scared. After it was all done and I opened my eyes - ahhhhh.... I do know it was the best thing I could have done for myself. I looked at it this way - I'd much rather have this surgery now than have a heart bypass later, or whatever else was surely down the line for me. Plus I'll get to enjoy a much better life - not to mention a longer life - in the meantime. You are doing the right thing - you're still going to be scared, but once it's over - the fright goes away and you know things are in your control - your work begins. trystelle 3 Posted October 21, 2007 If you were not very nervous it would concern me more. This is an important decision and if you didn't question it at some point I don't think you would be taking it seriously enough. I am 3 months out and 40 lbs down since my surgery!:clap2:
Iluvharleys 15 Posted October 21, 2007 All the emotions you are feeling is normal! You'll go through a lot of them before surgery. Keep busy, go shopping, read, or start going back and reading all the old posts on here. Good Luck!
kacee 3 Posted October 21, 2007 Channel that energy to get ready for surgery, stock up on the liquids and mushies for after and get your little nests ready for when you come home. I was so gung ho with energy I stocked my refrigerator so packed after five months I STILL can hardly get anything out of it! (I could single handedly supply someone for the first two weeks I think! HAHA)

I was so gung ho with energy I stocked my refrigerator so packed after five months I STILL can hardly get anything out of it! (I could single handedly supply someone for the first two weeks I think! HAHA) That's exactly what I have been trying to do. I am making list after list ...even a list of lists I need to make! Ha! I have really turned into my mother, now! It's comforting to have control over something at this point. Also, I am finding that the pre-op diet is keeping my busy. Must be prepared for it to go well! So, I will keep putting one step in front of the other and soon enough, Oct. 31st will be here! :clap2: Thanks for all the encouragement, guys! Brooke
