How to STOP losing?

Recommended Posts

I am going to be sleeved on Monday the 25th- awaiting my phone call for my surgery time.

i have been so in the LOSE zone, that I got to thinking, they never talked about how to stop once you reach goal. Granted that this is not anytime soon, but people have been asking and I never really thought about it.

Do you eat high calorie food? Eat more frequently? Exercise less - just kidding

...but what do you do to stop losing the weight once you are at goal?

Believe it or not your body will put the brakes on. Your appetite will increase somewhat (most likely) and if will happen. Usually it's more trouble to drop the last stubborn pounds than to stop losing.

But yeah, if you need to you eat more calorie dense food--according to your eating plan. Could be nuts, nut butter, avocado, higher fat dairy, olive oil on your veggies... lots of options! And yes eating more frequently or "grazing" is an option... usually it's something to avoid because it can cause regain if you don't do t carefully (e.g. snacking on crackers or other simple carbohydrates) but if done judiciously and with a plan it can work IF continued loss is a problem. Drinking some calories--an added Protein Shake, again higher fat dairy--works too.

But I assure you, stopping weight loss is rarely a problem. Usually it's the opposite. Most weight loss surgery patients lose 60-75% of their excess weight.

This.

Your body is going to stop when it gets to a point it doesn't want to lose anymore. Then if you want to lose more you are going to have to fight with it.

Sleevers have a lot more control over their long term weight loss than other WLS because we don't have malabsorption. I have stopped and started my WL a few times.

My body hit its post op set point about 9 months after surgery. It found its new normal and I easily maintain there, within 2 lbs. If I want to lose more weight I can, but I am very happy where I am. I still track what I eat and kniw what my caloric needs are, and hit that most days.

Eat as many calories as you burn. Either eat more often or more calorie dense foods.

Hit up an online TDEE calculator to get an estimation on how much you need to do this, then adjust accordingly.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
