mjm1812 3 Posted September 21, 2017 Hi all! This is my very first post. I have a consultation scheduled at NYU on October 6th with Dr. Bedrosian and have no idea where to start on putting together a list of questions to ask her. I am a bag of emotions but more so excited that I have this opportunity. One of my biggest concerns is how long will I be out from work following the surgery? I have a 9-5 desk job with no heavy lifting but I currently walk about 1mile everyday to and from the train. I am also super nervous that my insurance will not approve even though I am 5’4” with a BMI of 49 and no co-morbidities that I am aware of. They stated that coverage is based of off medical necessity and as long all as all ASMBS guidelines are followed. 1 blakescat reacted to this
blakescat 10 Posted September 29, 2017 I have Dr. Bedrosian as well. My sis is a Nurse in NYU and recommended her. She will have you obtain clearance from all of your other Dr's related to your comorbidites. For me I had to clear Rheumetology, Hematology, Pulminology before she will even consider surgery. She is extremely thorough. And She is VERY NICE!!! One hiccup she is currently expecting. She will be leaving for Maternity Leave either end of Oct or beginning of Nov. So, I can't get into Surgery until Jan. You may be offered the opportunity for another surgeon. But truthfully if you have comorbidities like myself its gonna take that long to clear them all. Lol On your first visit she will ask you a lot of health questions. Ans make surgical recommendations based on that. I really did quite answer your question, but at least you are not alone there!!!Sent from my LG-H901 using BariatricPal mobile app 1 mjm1812 reacted to this
mjm1812 3 Posted September 29, 2017 Yay! I don’t have any other comorbidites that I’m aware of but I guess we’ll see! Thank you so much for sharing your experience with her. I feel good knowing someone else is working with her.
