Mexico or Canada

Recommended Posts

Hi All, I am close to my final decision to go ahead with sleeve. I have to pay out of pocket so in Canada the cost is 19,000. Still waffling about Mexico. It is a big cost for me. Any thoughts or experiences in Mexico would be greatly appreciated.

My surgeon does the surgery for less the $12000 here in the states, NO. Check him out . Dr. Vadim Gritsus.

I highly recommend my surgeon in Tijuana; Dr. Jaime Ramos Kelly. The surgery was done at Hospitale Angeles and I had a great experience and result.

I used Dr. Quinones at Pompeii Surgical in Tiajuana. I had a great experience. I had no complications and have lost 83 lbs since January.

I went to Dr Garcia at Tijuana Bariatrics and had a fantastic experience. I paid 4250 all inclusive, super clean and modern hospital, transportation, and a few days at the mariott, which was also very nice. Dr Garcia is top notch. The care I received was way better than anything i have ever had in the US. My husband wasn't crazy about me getting surgery at all and was really against me going to mexico...until I went and he saw what it was like there and my results. He ended up getting surgery there 5 months after me. We are currently down a little iver 200 between the 2 of us

I went to Mexico. To Juarez. It was all top notch. I had a butler and a safe in my room. They checked on me every hour. It was better than any hospital stay I’ve had. And I stayed at the hospital the whole time.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
