Waiting for gastric sleeve

Recommended Posts

Hi I'm waiting for my gastric sleeve in the next couple of months. I'm from London , England.

I keep going from desperately wanting it, to not wanting it at all.

Is there anyone else on here that feels like that?.

I went back and forth for a long time about whether it was the right thing for me. I was sleeved ten months after I started the program, which is a lot longer than most people take, but I wanted to be sure that my head was in the right place.

Good luck! It's a tough decision, but you'll figure out what is best for you!

I think it's the hanging about waiting for that the worst. I have been on the program since June 2016 but as it's on the NHS it takes ages.
Have you ever regretted it ?

Sorry the weight has been so long it leaves a lot more time for questioning the decision. Once it is done you will probably think how much you wished you could have done it sooner. I wanted surgery 5 yrs before I actually had it. I did not have my husband's support and as private pay that made doing it without his support hard. Eventually I did it anyway. Now I looked back and think about those 5 extra yrs of not being able to live as fully as I can I can now. I hope your wait ends soon. Yes there are always some who regret their decision but not very many.

I cancelled two sleeve journeys to finally make the third. I'm glad I finally did it. No regrets at all.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
