monica8773 25 Posted September 20, 2017 Did anyone bruise badly after procedure? My surgery was on 9/12 and my poor gut looks like I was kicked by Bigfoot. HW 228CW 207GW
GassyGurl 428 Posted September 20, 2017 Did you receive blood thinner shots? Not uncommon with drugs like heparin and lovenox. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app 1 monica8773 reacted to this
jhope71 105 Posted September 20, 2017 It's probably the blood thinner they give you to prevent blood clots. I had bruises like that around each injection site, for weeks!
jess9395 5,449 Posted September 20, 2017 Yup, my lovenox site looked like that!
LisaMarieC23 0 Posted September 20, 2017 Was that the bypass or the sleeve??Sent from my LG-M153 using BariatricPal mobile app
shareeann 110 Posted September 20, 2017 Crazy ? I didn't have any bruises. Hope it's not as painful as it looks.
travelergirl 142 Posted September 20, 2017 I had some bruising but nothing like your photo. I didn't find the incision site or bruising to be painful. The itching got extreme but not pain. For me it was more pain/discomfort when I sat or stood...like a major ab workout.Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app
chasingpolaris321 214 Posted September 20, 2017 Like others mentioned, probably from blood thinners (assuming they gave you some). I had a massive arm bruise and asked the nurse about it and she said they gave me my first round of blood thinners while I was still under, so you might not have even realized that's what happened! Hopefully the bruising goes down soon!
monica8773 25 Posted September 21, 2017 I had bypass. Yes. I received three separate shots in my abdomen of lovenox! Two on this side and then one on my right side. The one on my right did not do what the left has done. And yes travelergirl, I'm so dang uncomfortable. The site is smaller and the bruising is beginning to turn its many shades of glory! monica8773 25 Posted September 21, 2017 I will say that I did have spasms within 24 hours of surgery. Oh boy was that horrible! Most of my left side was affected. I thought the bruising came from those! HW 228CW 217GW
OmaJ 130 Posted September 21, 2017 I had some bruising, but not like that, WOW, God bless you! At my one week follow up, my Dr. said I was an oozer when I asked him. He said I bleed easily. I reacted with redness around the 2 main incisions from the steri strips & Dr. removed all of them. I'm a bit concerned about the discoloration by those sites now, but improving each day. My RNY was 9/5. I know your bruising will take awhile to resolve, it looks like my abdomen from the seat belt when I was in a car accident! Has your Dr. seen it?Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using BariatricPal mobile app
mike_s 32 Posted September 23, 2017 I bruise easily and if I remember correctly, I looked like that too. I'd just mention it at your next appointment.Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
