Combatting Loose Skin

Recommended Posts

I am getting the gastric sleeve soon. 5'3" 240 pounds at age 26 (also very fair skin if that means anything). I'm a total type A personality and don't mind doing extra work/steps/anything if anyone thinks that it might have a slight chance of success. Loose skin is not my biggest worry but I was wondering if anyone had advice or successful tips they had post op. Thanks.

I don't have an answer to this, but I share your question. I know retinol and Vitamin C serum have been shown to stimulate collagen growth and reduce wrinkles etc. on peoples' faces - has anyone tried using them on other skin likely to be problematic during weight loss, like tummy and arms?

Speaking of loose skin, I don't believe in any of the alternative treatments for it (vitamin lotion etc) I think that's all gimmicky stuff without much evidence and impact. But what are the treatment options short of a full fledged Tummy Tuck (which doesn't look pleasurable)? Are there less involved surgical options for people who haven't lost incredible amounts of weight (ie 60-100 pounds) as these are less severe instances?

My plan is to work out while I am losing. I have worried about this as well. I am a lower BMI so i am going to do weights while losing to help with muscle mass. I worry about my face, upper arms and tummy.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
