Graphic###Unable to keep Skim Milk Down

Recommended Posts

Anyone else experience having the "runs" and it going through the front?

I'm scared. I called the surgeon and he said it has nothing to do with the surgery. But, I never had this before prior to surgery.

My first time dealing with this was last Friday. Surgeon told me to drink more Water that night and it should clear up. I drank more water and it did go away.

I drank skim milk again today and the same thing happened. Still sipping water and hopefully it will clear up.

Going to see nurse practitioner tomorrow morning so she can check me out. Smh, what is happening to me?

I don't know what you mean by the runs coming out of the front...

Many people get sick from milk after the surgery.. can't tolerate it.

It happened previously, then you decide to drink the milk again..? How about dont drink the milk and try something else ? Our body changes after surgery maybe you will be fine with it later on.

Yes, I figured it was because of 1% milk. Then I tried fat free so I won't be drinking milk for a while. Did it because I'm supposed to drink milk and Clear Liquids

Lactose intolerance is fairly common after surgery even if you didn't have a problem before. Stay away from the milk [emoji4]

I was never lactose intolerant before and the two times I've tried my Protein powders with skim milk I've had indigestion afterward and been miserable. But my surgeon said I could use almond or soy milk, or Lactaid (lactose free milk) and those are fine, no dumping syndrome. I know the taste isn't as good as real milk, but better to have a sad palette than a bathroom emergency, in my opinion :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
