Welcome! And congrats on your surgery hon. I hope someone can chime in for soft foods...cause I didn’t really change my diet to plant based until I was on solids. If I should find some time, I’ll do some research for you though. 😁

I think the ricotta bake is vegetarian. If you do a google search you should find the recipe. Also the tofu Parmesan is vegitarian and soft. Welcome !!!

I ate a lot of refried Beans. I also would pour some of the liquid out of lentil Soup and put my immersion blender in it to eat the thickened lentils and vegetables. I ate greek yogurt and tofu. I think I was allowed to eat string cheese at that point as well. I was allowed to have eggs then, but only had them a few times at that stage.

I’m so excited to find this post. I’m scheduled for a revision Dev 12th from lap band to bypass. I’m a little confused on the vegan diet plan. I’ve been vegan for 4 years and intend on staying this way. My Dr. pushes Protein, and I’ve read all of Dr Garth Davis books and follow him but I’m still confused on the amount of protein that is necessary. How much protein do you generally eat a day?

Also, there’s a lot of Pasta recipes here which I love. When did you start adding pasta to your diet, and did it slow down your weight loss?

thanks for any help you can offer.

Hello Newme17! Thank you so much for sharing your recipes & for creating this site! I was sleeved 3 mos ago Aug. 16. As I started to add solids foods back into my diet I found that I can no longer tolerate All pork meat, cheese, eggs & now yogurt. Even greek yogurt! So I decided I would try eating healthy vegan style but I didnt know how to get started as well as to how to make sure I get in my recommended amount of protein(60-80g) daily! Any suggestions?

@niseys4 hey there. I apologize for not responding way sooner. I’ve been off the grid, so to speak, for a while. Hon, it was hard for me to make the transition, but I eventually did and I’m so happy I did too. What helped me immensely is using the vegan/vegetarian recipes on www.budgetbytes.com. Such a great site. I think I make about 85% of my meals from there. Check it out!

I’ll do my best to check in more often as well

Hey hon. I don’t count protein AT ALL. not worth the hassle, considering our bodies are not scientifically made for an overdose of it (the western diet pushes that). I just eat Whole Foods plant based and yes, I eat pasta too. ya not my favorite, but I’ll have some. If I have to pick apart my Foods by macro and micro nutrients, then carbs are my friends. Lol. But I don’t. My loss has slowed because I’m not working out. Still losing the pounds though. That’s all that counts to me. I’m not in a race. I also don’t weigh myself that much either.

As for my diet, I’m sticking to it. My doc/but is fine with it too. Actually got the surgeon reading Proteinaholic. 😂 yay me!!!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
