Recommended Posts

Went for first fill yesterday, I am still HUNGRY!!I don't know how long it is suppose to be this way, but I have paid alot of money for this band and I have been hungry since two weeks out . I am doing liquids today, but tomorrow i will be able to eat soft foods. But my dr. will be hearing from me if I don't start feeling some restriction SOON!!!:whoo:

Most of us needed more then one fill to feel restricted. And will continue to need fills as we lose weight. It's a process, and takes patience I know I didn't have!!

So, keep in touch with your doctor about your restriction level, and don't freak out yet.

I just got my first fill yesterday. It was a big one too..LOL

My dr said to wait 1-2 weeks and I should start to feel some good restriction. I already feel some, so I know its working. So far its been willpower, but that works too....Dave

oh my god, you got 6cc in your first fill? Are you able to keep Water down>? That just sounds like alot for your first fill. I am not a Doctor but still. Whoa! My doctor put in 3ccs. He wanted to put 4ccs, but said there was some back pressure.? Have no idea what that is. Good luck to you.

I though it was a lot too, but my dr said she doesnt do the mini fills that I hear about. I had to stand and drink Water as she was adjusting the amount and when I felt the water slow down, she stopped. So far its good, but we will see in a few days or so when I try to eat anything more than liquids/mushies.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
