ellemay 0 Posted October 16, 2007 Hi Everyone, I have been reading furiously over the last few days since being back from getting my Lapband. I was banded on the 2nd Oct 07 after many years of yoyo dieting, successes and failures, ups and down, highs and lows. I just couldn't get my headspace right and knew that if i didn't get banded I would just keep on eating. I'm 5 ft tall and 95kg(209lbs) and can't move freely. I have arthritis in my knees and get tired so easily. I look at my kids and feel so guilty not being able to live life with them. I look in the mirror and hate what I see, so now I have to change once and for all. Hopefully I can find support through this journey here as I know I won't get it from my never been overweight friends that stop eating for a week, lose 3 kilos and are happy! They have no understanding what it's like to be in this body. Looking forward to reading more of your amazing and inspirational stories.

ellemay 0 Posted October 16, 2007 Hi Leeanne, I was on Soup for only 3 days. With the french band you go to mushies on the 4th day and then semi solids on day 11. Full diet after 3 weeks. One more packet soup and I think I would have been sick.Only problem is that I can eat anything I want as the band obviously needs a refill. After day 5 I felt no pain when eating and was hungry. So I eat! I go for a top up on Dec 3rd and I can't wait to get that full feeling and not feeling hungry like others have achieved. Thank goodness I read through a lot of posts and realized that for some you just don't get that feeling till they find the right fill for you. Once I've been adjusted a few times I hope to find a doctor in Melb that can do it as I don't want to fly to Queensland every time I need a fill.

I don't imagine that finding a doc here in Oz is going to be the drama that it is for the folks in the states. Have you called a few local surgeons and asked about being filled by them? ellemay 0 Posted October 17, 2007 Well, let me retract some of my statements! I thought I had no restriction at all. I was eating sensibly but more than the allowable 1/2 cup at this stage. But last night I pushed the envelope! Boy did I feel it. Even now 12 hours later I still can feel the fullness. I'm glad I did it because I know there are limitations to my band. I will have to be careful over the next few days and then settle into a good eating regime. Chickie, you're right there are DRs everywhere that can fill. I wanted the first fill to be with the Dr that put it in first. After that I'll go in for a checkup with him once a year as we holiday up there every sept holidays. If in need a fill in between I'll go to someone here in Melbourne. Anyone know of a good sympathetic Dr that isn't harsh? That's the last thing I need right now while I'm getting my head around all this.
