Omg , I have had one of those ... where I was waking up around that time to get to work, and would wake up while taking the train , wondering if I put on my shoes if I’m dressed or even if I close the door. When you tired your body might be awake but your brain is still snoring. But that’s life.

My last visit to the doc is tomorrow YAY ME! And I’m so nervous cuz is the psychology one, and I heard someone people get denied their surgery cuz of the psychologist. wish me luck!

“There will be obstacles. There will be doubters. There will be mistakes. But with hard work, there are no limits.” —Michael Phelps

ROFLMAO about the train, the shoes, or being nekkidy! LOL!

So, don't spaz over the psych eval. It was sooooo easy peasy...mainly just a test with 400 questions. Then you sit and chat for about 30-45 minutes. He'll talk about why you want the surgery, how you think it will help. He's trying to see if you're a psychopath, have hidden personality disorders, if you are withit and right with the world...lol. If you have depression, eating disorders, alcohol or drug probs, that sort of thing, I think it would be trickier and worth a little anxiety. But otherwise, you'll do great! ((hugs)) and so excited for you!

Nov 1! Wow! So close, makes this real, doesn't it? How are you doing? I imagine I will be an emotional basket case when I am that close!!

I am really nervous. I did ask the anaesthiologist if I could get Valium prior to going into surgery because I was having seriously frightened of the surgery. He was so kind and he said that he would.

((hugs)) Def. take the valium! Also, take your tunes with you and crank them up load on your ear buds! Keep the lights low if you can. I always have a private pre-op room until they wheel me to surgery, so hopefully you will too. Maybe ask your doc for something to help you sleep the night before?

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
