Leatha - When you came to pick me up that day for our overnighter, I thought to myself that you are so tiny. I expected to see a bigger woman. Your picture sure don't do the justice, you are so much prettier and petite in person. I guess when we look at ourselves we just don't see us the same way as others see us.

Leatha, congratulations! I know how hard it is to deal with a stubborn plateau. You and I started at the same weight and we're close to the same weight now and yet. . . I am wearing your old clothes! The ones you were too small for way back in November. I think you must be all muscle. And you sure look small. Congratulations again!

Nancy

Thank you Babs! I hate to admit I've been preparing myself mentally that I may indeed be one of those who only lose 50% :D But, I know it's more me than it is anything else. I just have to admit to myself that the band has done it's job and I have to just meet it halfway. In my case and at this stage in the game, that means no more fooling around. I've gotten by with alot and still managed to lose, no matter how slowly, but I've come to a crossroads where I have to make a decision. Do I want this bad enough to buckle down and kiss the goodies goodbye? or do I want to sit here rocking back and forth and kicking my own arse from now on? ..

Maybe I'm even being too hard on myself? Maybe that truly was a plateau? Maybe I reached a place where I had been before (which is true) and my body wanted to hunker down in the old familiar place? I dunno. But, I do know that it's not going to give in easily. I'm going to have to work for every pound past this point.

Congratulations, Leatha. I predict you'll hit the 170s no later than Feb. 1!

Glad the scale moved for you Leatha. It gets very frustrating when it just doesn't move.

Your pictures are beautiful. You look fabulous. Before you know it you'll be in the 170's!!!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
