Meryline 546 Posted September 13, 2017 December 2015 I had my first back surgery. I could hardly walk, and was heavily medicated with opioids to get through the day. Surgery was a success, until I had a relaps at the same place not even a year later. Long story short. I had 2 nerve blockages that worked for a while, but in the end, my surgeon said I needed to be operated on again. We decided to wait and see if the wls would help my back. The pictures below are from March of this year, only 7 days after my wls, and from Saturday. The herniation has been reduced to almost nothing, the spine covering the nerve is almost nothing, all due to loosing almost 90 lbs. I see my neurosurgeon on Monday, but both I and my physical therapist are sure I won't be having the surgery I'm booked for on October 3rd. If that is not a success story, I don't know what is. 8 JohnnyCakes, IzzyThea, James Marusek and 5 others reacted to this
Berry78 4,261 Posted September 13, 2017 This is AMAZING!!! I'm so happy for you! Can't wait for your 6 month external photos when you feel up to it My hubby also has lower spine pain (not as severe a problem as yours was though)... and he's lost 35lbs and has felt some improvement. I'll share these pictures with him and hope it motivates him to keep going (he was about 80- 90lbs overweight as well). 3 Meryline, FluffyChix and njgal reacted to this
Meryline 546 Posted September 13, 2017 Yeah, I feel amazing @Berry78. I still have some pain now and then, but mostly due to Sacroiliac dysfunction and not due to the herniated disk. If it can motivate him, share. Back pain is no joke. Any less stress on his spine he is able to do the better he is going to feel. 1 FluffyChix reacted to this

This is a success story! I just had a nerve blockage done one month ago and starting to have pain again with pain scale being a 4. Now this is no where nearly what my pain level was before the nerve block. That being said, this really gives me hope so I can’t to have my surgery next month! Thanks for sharing your story! 2 FluffyChix and Meryline reacted to this
