7 days post op: horrible night -chills, anxiety, fast heart rate

Recommended Posts

Hii! So I am 7 days post op. I haven't had a full night of sleep just yet there's always something that gets in the way. Last night was the first time I was really aiming for sleeping through the night. Though, I will admit I only got like 30 g of Protein in and maybe 30oz of Water. I woke up super late since I haven't been sleeping. So last night was terrifying. I woke up at 1130 to these insane chills, my heart rate was scary fast and I kept feeling like I was going to pass out. Whenever I would almost fall asleep my mind would like, scare me awake like an anxiety attack and it happened throughout the whole night. I was so scared I wanted to go to the hospital. I didn't feel okay until about 730 this morning. My legs were also getting numb. Has anyone ever had something like that before?

Don't know about the leg thing, but the rest sounds like low blood sugar.

I can't sleep either, and when I catch a nap I wake up to my own noises, my daughter said I was like trying to sleep talk. Since I can't sleep at night, I sleep mist of the morning so, no liquid intake and then I am weak and constipated. I have no pain, but yes some leg discomforts, but I had other surgeries and I know is the gas trapped.

Please contact your Dr ASAP. Some of it might be reactive hypoglycemia, or it could be worse but a Dr needs to be notified and you should be seen.

It sounds like a panic attack to me -- have you ever had one before? They can be very scary. But check with your surgeon, definitely!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
