Gastric sleeve to bypass revision

Recommended Posts

Hey there folks. My name is Will. I'm 35 years old and In 2015 I had the gastric bypass sleeve. I have not lost the weight with that that I wanted to or hoped to. I have contacted a surgeon in my TN area and am going to the pre surgery seminar tomorrow night. Then I have my appt with the head nurse and surgeon on Friday. I'm hoping that he will say I can qualify for the bypass. I'm not happy with my current situation. I'm having stomache pain and discomfort and a lot of diarrhea. Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Will

Hi from NC,

i had lap band to RNY bypass 14 days ago. I'm here if you have any questions. I had lots of complications with my lap band and vomited daily. The RNY bypass is way different so far. No issues or complications yet.

Hey there. I had the sleeve in 2015. I'm wanting the bypass or any other procedure they recommend. I've been having some slight pain in my stomach and lots of diarrhea which didn't happen at first. I don't know what to do and I'm kinda lost for words on what to do. My surgery seminar is tomorrow night then
I meet with the surgeon or his asst on Friday. Any advice would be appreciated. I don't know if this is even the thing for me to do

Do you know why your experiencing stomach pain. Do you have a lot of weight to lose. Requirements were similar to when I had lap band in 2011.

I have a lot of weight to loose in my eyes. I don't know for sure what's causing the pain. I'm sure they'll have to do a endoscopy again. I fee like it is the only option for me tho if he says it's an option

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
