Walter.Sobchak 978 Posted September 10, 2017 How would I know if my sleeve is too big?I feel like I am able to take in too much.I feel like my sleeve is able to hold more than my wife's and we were sleeved by the same surgeon. He said he uses the same device to measure the sleeve. He also told my wife after surgery that he had to do a lot of cutting on me as I had a huge stomach.I also suffer from OCD and maybe I am just creating unneeded stress for myself. Why are you eating three Greek yogurts in one sitting? Just because you can doesn't necessarily mean you should. Anyhow, back to the question at hand...Greek yogurt is considered a thickened liquid consistency, like pudding thick. Campbell's Tomato Soup is a liquid. liquids don't challenge the sleeved stomach. In other words, they slide past the stomach into the small intestine without activating stretch receptors, so they don't trigger a sense of fullness. I could consume a gallon of soup without feeling full because it's 'sliding.' You won't feel fullness until you attempt to eat animal-based Protein such as chicken breasts, steak, pork chops, etc. I guarantee you won't be able to eat three chicken breasts. 2 OutsideMatchInside and jess9395 reacted to this
Walter.Sobchak 978 Posted September 10, 2017 I am over-eating because I am starving and a food addict. It is nice to know that dense food will fill me up more.I think I am going to stop buying the Greek yogurt. jaminator 262 Posted September 10, 2017 (edited) Yeah it's sliding right through but at least Greek yogurt is better than a lot of other things you could be eating Edited September 10, 2017 by jaminator 1 sleeved_gal17 reacted to this
jess9395 5,449 Posted September 10, 2017 If you are soon out of surgery and "starving" make sure you are on an acid reducer like omeprazole. Acid in the healing stomach can mimic hunger pains.Work on the mental aspect of food addiction.Finally... yes your capacity is probably larger than your wife's. Sleeve surgery reduces the circumference of the tube but your tube is likely longer than hers as you are a man and probably taller. They can't reduce the length of the tube. That said, it's probably appropriate it be larger and you be able to eat a small amount more. You will need more calories than she does long term once you get to goal to maintain. 6 Walter.Sobchak, woo woo, Williwaw and 3 others reacted to this

AZBlackhawk 122 Posted September 10, 2017 Does your surgeon's office offer a nutritionist or any support? Talk to them. I agree, you need filling food. If Greek yogurt is convenient for you, add some flax meal or chia seeds. How is your Water intake? At least 64 oz per day? Find Dr Duc Vuong on Facebook so many free videos and he also has sleeveacademy.com check that out I would also think if you aren't chewing food, maybe that act is causing you to be hungry I find when I have all the same texture, I'm not as satisfied 1 Rainbow_Warrior reacted to this

At the very least, bring it up at your next GP (general practitioner/family doctor) visit. I presume she/he has been part of your sleeve surgery process? OutsideMatchInside 10,166 Posted September 11, 2017 @Walter.Sobchak It isn't too big. You are binge eating on sliders/liquids. Do you have a therapist? You really need to work on the root cause of your food addiction. There is no way to make a sleeve small enough to combat food addiction. 4 1 Olypie, XYZXYZXYZ1955, dreamingsmall and 2 others reacted to this

What my comment was alluding to was that his receptionist, his consultant dietitian or he himself might have workable strategies or advice for you. Given what a few of the longer-serving, more-experienced responders have said, as a layman, it looks like you are (a) not doing enough relatively continuous water-sipping up to 20-30 mins BEFORE and 20-30 mins AFTER your designated meals (b) too much liquid/runny meal content (c) not enough chewable food that requires you to process it. I COULD BE WRONG as I'M JUST A FAT BLOKE and NOT A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL. 3 Walter.Sobchak, Lotta and kamjmm25 reacted to this
