How long does it for insurance approval

Recommended Posts

Do any one know how long it takes for your insurance to approve your surgery?

I think every insurance company is different but mine took 3-5 business days and came back at day 4... good luck

Call your insurance and check. You may find out before your Dr.

Mine was submitted last week on Tuesday and I still so not have an answer. I have checked everyday! Finally one of the reps took my phone number and said she would keep an eye out and let me know when the status changed. She told me to expect it around the 19th. Too long! I have BC Anthem (out of California). I wish I had these quick ones like other folks!!

I'm with The NSW Teachers Union Health Fund.

I have "top" hospital cover and "top" extras cover.

It took them under three minutes to answer my call, verify who I was, process the surgeon's procedure code number and say it was "all" covered.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
