Hi December buddies! I didn't have a chance to read all posts but wanted to check in and say hi. I am 3 weeks post op (sleeved December 11, 2017). I hit the dreaded "three week stall" last week, as I haven't lost anything since Christmas. However, I am down 34 pounds from my heaviest, and 28 pounds since starting my 2 day pre-op liquid diet. I'm also down 17 inches so far!

My doctor said to be careful with working out, and no weights yet. His concern was I wasn't getting all my Protein in. However, I have upped my Protein and I'm now hitting between 60-80g a day. I'm wondering if anybody has started doing cardio yet? I'm anxious to put in the work to break this stall, although I know time is necessary as well.

I'm on pureed, and eating a lot of tuna salad and egg salad since my plan allows those without actually being pureed. I just have to cut it up really small! Everything is going really well so far, and I am allowed to start "real" food Saturday, woot!

Happy New Year! Here is to a healthier and happier year for all of us.

I am in the same boat...three week stall....I have lost 36 pounds all togher and 23lbs since surgery! I am still not comfortable eating tuna, chicken, or any meats yet but doing well on chicken salad, tuna salad, and Beans. Egg salad sounds good, will have to try that as well. I have not been able to get all of my protein in so I ordered some Liquid Protein since i have trouble with trying to eat and get enough in. Good luck!

This is my first post. I was sleeved in Orange County on 12/7. I am down 25 lbs as of today which basically puts me at loosing an average of a lb a day. I stalled from week 2 to week 3, but seem to be loosing again. I am no where close to where I want to be, but so thankful I am not where I was.

Wondering if anyone has hit the gym yet? I am eager to get in and put in some work. Walking is great, but I get so bored. Obviously no weights until cleared, but thinking bike and other cardio equipment.

Also, what are some of you go to puree/soft foods favs? I just started phase 2 last Thursday, so I am still getting a feel for what I can tolerate.

Lastly, anyone take Probiotics? I am looking to start one in hopes that it will make me far more regular.

Hi Protein_Princess, some of my soft foods favs are red Beans cooked extra long until i can smash with a fork, broccoli over cooked, green beans, lentils or whatever beans you like just make sure they are over cooked, Taco bell re-fried beans (this helps me think I am going out to eat)! Hopes these are some ideas you can enjoy!

I've been hesitant to try veggies, but I think I will slowly start introducing them.

The only way I can get all my protein in is through shakes and Protein Drinks.

I was sleeved on 12/6 and my surgeon gave me the ok to start soft foods last week and slowly transition to regular diet. I did try very soft over cooked broccoli and it felt so strange in my tummy. I want to try salad because i have been craving one so bad.

Has anyone tried any fresh fruit yet?

I was sleeved 12/20. In my program we can't have fresh fruit for 4 months and salad for 6 months....I'm a little jealous. I'm stuck on canned tuna and cottage cheese for another week before I can have real fish (salmon, etc).

I can't have salad until next month just cooked veggies for now. 6 months no salad is a long time. I can have limited fresh fruits right now. They have to be soft fruit with no skin. so no apples and stuff like that.

I was sleeved 12/19 . I am on the stage where I can have fish (no shell fish) , ground turkey, non fat cottage cheese, low fat cheese , yougurt , eggs , fruits with no skin smashed and well bitten to the point that it’s puréed consistency, veggies no raw , steamed well , smashed and well bitten . Veggies never tasted so good !

Hello to all! Well, let me tell you about my experience. I turned in all my paperwork by 10/16...the surgery coordinator was not doing her job properly and by 12/4 I was curious why I haven't heard anything. I called the insurance company upset that I haven't heard of a date yet. They explained that the doctors office just sent the request on 12/2. I was devastated because as of 12/31/17...I was covered 100% by the insurance all my deductible and out of pocket expenses were met. For the fist time in 9 years I could actually afford this surgery. The feed back in recived was awful from the office. I was sooo upset that all this hard work, time and cost to visit the doctors for 6 months I was not going to have it done. Well by the mercy of my God and savior Jesus, I received a call from the doctors office on 12/22/17 to offer my surgery on 12/29/17. I had less then a week to prepared. It all happened so fast. I am now 1 week post op. Had a few rough days...but thank God I am on myour journey to a new life.

The first few days were rough for me, but now i feel really good.I Look forward to each new week to introduce new foods. Im glad i can move on from chicken broth lol. Good luck on your Journey!

I am a month out today. I was sleeved 12/5/2017. I dropped my first 11 pounds in 2 weeks. I have lost 2 pounds since then. I am so tired always. The only reason I can think is because I was able to drink energy drinks before and can't now. I didn't get the courtesy of not being hungry. I am always hungry. I wake-up to my stomach growling. I am going to talk to my doctor about getting me a referral to an endocrinologist. I don't eat all day though. I have to force myself to eat at times. I eat a ton of egg salad, since the tuna is too dry to eat. I am on soft foods, so I will eat regular foods that are soft. I was able to eat steak, because it was medium and moist. I drink one Protein Drink a day, since it is all I can fit in. Also, I am lactose intolerant, so most of the food I have on my lists don't agree with me.

I had a ton of trouble swallowing Water at first. It was extremely painful. I kept it up until it stopped hurting. I am still working on getting all of my water in every day. It is not easy. Some days, I do really well, and others, not so well. On the days I don't exercise, it is because I do housework or go shopping. Exercising has not come easy to me. I had a hernia fixed also, and it hurts if I do too much. I really don't want to mess it up... I have learned to keep going no matter what. I am on my second stall, so I am more focused on finding things I can do to exercise more... If you have any suggestions, I would appreciate it.

I'm in the same week-3-stall boat, which is discouraging, but apparently very common. Everyone says to keep doing what you're doing and it will pass. Fingers crossed.

I'm also lactose intolerant, so all that yogurt and cottage cheese is a definite no. At my nutritionist's suggestion I have been making bean Soups (lentils, black beans) and throwing them in the blender. They go down very easy and are high in Protein. If you don't like to cook there are some decent ready-made options at the grocery store - just blend and eat.

Just my opinion, but if you're still experincing pain from your hernia repair, you might want to stick with just walking for now. Some people take a walk in the morning and the evening - that could be a good option for you. More vigorous exerise can wait until you're healed and feeling up to it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
