Pinkaranda 10 Posted September 7, 2017 My surgery was on 9/4/17 the first day was hell today its been 3 days since surgery and i was still having vomit and nausea. Untill i was able to eat ice chips i started feeling better im a really good ice Water drinker but when i took the first small sip 2 days after surgery well lets just say it didn't go so good. Will i ever be able to drink more water?
PrayingForWeightLoss 337 Posted September 7, 2017 Yes you will. Water tasted horrible for me the first 2 to 3 days. Can you flavor it somehow? Keep trying, don't risk dehydration. Hope all goes well. I am about 7 weeks post op and now I drink water with no issues.
Rainbow_Warrior 996 Posted September 7, 2017 1. I hope you have good quality tap Water. 2. Try to sip it slowly my dietitian advised ... even to the extent of putting it into a low bowl and "eating it" from a teaspoon like a clear Soup. 3. Try it hotter (from kettle or urn). 4. If water is too hard to consume, flavour it with one cherry OR half a strawberry OR a small thin wheel of banana OR a segment of lemon/lime/orange. [Consider putting 250mL/8oz in the blender so tiny fragments of fruit are integral to the water.
OutsideMatchInside 10,166 Posted September 7, 2017 You might want to try different temps of Water like Rainbow suggested. I couldn't tolerate cold water. My water had to be room temp or warm. I don't suggest adding fruit to your water. If you have to add flavoring get sugar free water drops. Sip on water all day, when you are on liquids you can drink all day, no need to wait before or after "meals" As you heal you are able to drink more water faster. By one year I was drinking at close to a normal rate, now I can drink like someone that didn't have surgery. I just had 16 ounces of water in shot just now as I took my morning Vitamins.
