For those of you 6+mos out Carbonation

I drink seltzer or the occasional beer - but very slowly. Seltzer is very bubbly and hurts if I drink too much at once.

I was told pre-surgery that I should never drink carbonation for the rest of my life because it would stretch my stomach. I've also read a lot of people sharing that advice on here. There is no evidence that this is true - it is just one of those WLS urban myths.

Thank you everyone! I just wanted to know I could have a sip just a sip now and then when the time comes. I have gone 5 days without carbonation or a Coke or sugar and I could almost die for a big Coke right now lol

I was allowed to drink carbonated drinks after 7 months, I drink 2-4 litres of Coke Zero a day, I don't drink Water, doctor says it's fine as long as I'm hydrated and it doesn't have sugar.

The surgery itself didn't change my tastes it was the dietary change that did for the most part. You know when you stop eating added sugar and can notice the sweetness in roasted veggies. That kind of thing.

Well except for Peanut Butter. Dunno what happened there. Used to not like it, now I can eat it by the spoonful plain (the no sugar added kind).

BTW not only is there no evidence carbonation stretches the sleeve, there's actually plenty of evidence it does NOT stretch the sleeve.

I used to drink 3-4 Diet Pepsi a day!

What a coincidence, I used to eat Peanut Butter once every blue moon, but after surgery I've taken a liking to it and all other nut butters, as for PB, I like the Peter Pan creamy, the natural ones we have here are only chunky and I hate the oily, dry taste they have even though the roasted peanut flavor is very nice on these.

You have to stir in the oil that settles to the top on the natural ones. I open a fresh jar and stir it all up and then put it in the fridge and it stays stirred up and creamy.

I am 9 months out and I have no issues with carbonation though I don't drink soda. I do drink seltzer from time to time and will occasionally have a hard cider.

I did that, but I have terrible luck with both almond and Peanut Butter that are advertised as natural. :( so I just gave up

What kind of bad luck?

I've used Laura Scudders mostly and I believe it is a national brand.

Peanut Butter is one of those things I rarely ate pre-op. Post-op I like it so much, I don't keep it in the house. It was too easy to eat and too calorie dense.

I concur. I seldom ate Peanut Butter pre-op. Today it is a trigger food that sucks me in like the addictive nature of crack cocaine (I've never tried crack, but I know it's highly addicting).

Dry and bland for the most part, Smuckers is the only natural PB we get here in the country, and to make it worst they only import the chunky version (I prefer creamy),

Well it will definitely taste different--the "bland" is because it doesn't have the sugar and other things added. I think it must be an acquired taste if you aren't used to it. I am so the other tastes off to me.

But it shouldn't be dry. Does it come with a layer of oil settled to the top? You have to mix that in and then put it in the fridge. It will stay mixed then and not be dry. If it doesn't maybe they drain that off and that's why it's dry. What part of the country are you in? Adams is another brand I know they have that in Louisiana and Idaho.

        Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive).
