Low Carb High Protein Lobster bisque for Full LIquids

Recommended Posts

I had vsg 4 years ago and lost 82 lbs; my husband had surgery the same day and lost 100 lbs. I started a blog to keep up with what I was feeling and eating, and that has now migrated to a full-blown food blog. But I wanted to share this yummy lobster bisque recipe that we used a lot during Post-Op/Full Liquids stage.

so this Soup counts as a full liquid and not a thin puree? My surgery is scheduled for next week and I'm trying to understand this. Thanks!

I want this so badly I would beg for it! I love lobster but became allergic to it for a couple of decades . . . then found I was over the allergy (weird, but apparently it happens). But didn't have a lobster before surgery!!! So . . . definitely going on the menu soon!

My surgeon didn't discriminate between thin purée and full liquids so i'm not really sure how to answer. We used it during the full liquids stage.

Ah...my doctor has Stage 1 clear; Stage 2; full liquids; Stage 3 thin purees; Stage 4 thick purees; and finally Stage 5 solid food! LOL They all are so different. I also see you are a sleeve and I'm having modified DS...so maybe that's part of why they differentiate. Anyway, it looks like a great recipe that I will try after a few weeks! Thanks.

This recipe looks wonderful. After reading it, I know that I will love it. Your website is good, and the dishes varied and truly drool worthy. For a true foodie such as me, it was hard enough to find sites that offered several recipes I actually want to try. After seeing yours, I am doubly happy for a post-op resource, and because you have the ethnic food variety I believe I was searching for; thank you!

Thank you! I started the blog as a way to track my weight loss after the sleeve, but then I ended up showing people how easy it was to eat well while eating low carb. So I used to post a lot of recipes here. Thought I'd come back and see how things were going :) Thanks for sharing the blog.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
