Filled for 1st time this morning

Recommended Posts

I went in this mornign for my first fill. Just a pinch for the numbing needle, a slight burn when the nerves got turned off, and then painless. I got to watch the monitor as my barium went down and went through the unfilled band pretty easily. Then, I watched as we tried a few different things. The coolest was when the barium went down and came to a complete halt. The doctor said, "Yep, I think that's a little too filled." I felt like saying "Ya' think so doc?" :) So, he finally adjusted everything until there was just a little squirt of Fluid going through the band at a time. Now comes the hardest part. Starting the diet all over again. My doc recommends 3 days of Clear liquids, 1 week of full liquids, 1 week of soft foods, then progressing on to small portions of solid foods. Geez, and I just got to eat my first small dry tuna-fish salad yesterday. One bonus of the diet I've been on is the barium tasted ok. It's a hell of a lot better than "Isopuke."

My stomach has now gone back to gurgling a lot...I'm a one man band again!! :)

Congradulation on your first fill. I also will be getting my fill today! I'm a little nervous about it all. I hope that I get filled enough because I have put on a few pounds! So, wish me luck!!

Thanks and good luck!!

Two things I did not mention before.

1. Now, after "eating" full liquids for a week, I am really hungry today on Clear Liquids.< /p>

2. My port is directly under my sternum, which is different than a lot of people here who desribes theirs as on their left or right side. I guess I now know why sleeping on my side was so easy.

I'm going for my first fill on Oct. 22nd. I can't wait. Are you feeling a difference? Is swallowing any different? I'm sure it's hard to tell since your just having liquids so far. But I'm eager to have some restriction. I wanna lose!!!

No difference so far, except the liquids satisfy me quicker than before. There is no difference in swallowing so far. However, when the doctor closed me off completely this morning, I DID feel that. Very weird to just have the barium just sitting up top waiting to go down.

My personal way of being able to lose before I was restricted was to buy a lunch-box and pack Breakfast, lunch, and dinner in it and eat those meals at work, and only drink liquids and snack on diet popsicles at work. That way I never felt neglected, and was able to keep on losing. Weekends were tougher, but I usually made it through those without cracking, although I did eat hard-boiled egg whites before I should have last weekend.

I got my first fill this weekend. We almost filled half the band already. I was to be on full liquids for three days and then resume eating. I just ate a Egg McMuffin (I know, I know bad choice but I need to get to the groccery store). Anyhow, I ate pretty slow and the whole thing went down. I'm a bit surprised it all went down so easily. I hope this keeps me full for a while. How much was put into your band?

I'm not sure how much was put in my band, but from looking at the monitor and seeing how much the barium flowed pre-adjustment, compared to how much barium flowed post-adjustment, it looked like a 90% difference. I'm sure that's not reality, but it sure was what it looked like.

I'm not sure how much was put in my band, but it really don't feel like much!! My dr. acted like he didn't want to really tell me how much he put, but i will call his office today because i really decided to keep a jounal with that info!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
