Me too!! Oct 17th

Congrats, it'll be an amazing day for both of us :) are you feeling nervous? I've been prepping for what seems like forever (geez it's only been six months!) but the approval came so fast and the date is in less than a month. I guess I'm a little apprehensive...

Hey everyone!! I go in on October 5th!! I just started my 2 week pre-op diet, have a nice nasty Headache, excited, scared, nervous, sooooo many different emotions!! I hope you're all doing better than I am! I'll be honest though, I have ZERO support at home, which makes this very difficult. But it's for Me. It's My desicion, and I need to make a change for ME!! For my life. For my children!! I hope and pray that the rest of you have the support you need. If not, I'll be here for you!! 😊

My surgery is October 4th and I feel you! I have no energy. I also have little to no support, only one person is there for me irl right now and I'll be alone in the hospital. You are not alone you have us and your wonderful kids too! :) We can support each other.

@belinda401 I like Isopure ready made - a little pricey but 20 oz have 40 gr of Protein. I like the blue raspberry and punch they are clear liquid and a little tart, pour over ice. I am also stocking up on Bone Broth. As far as shakes, I like Premier Protein ready-made and Jay Robb dreamsicle. My surgery will be Oct 24th.

Well my pre-op diet starts tomorrow. I had a 2 hour session with the nutritionist and my doctor's nurse in which they went over in great detail the pre-op and post-op requirements. I am really trying to stay positive about the next two weeks. Bottom line, if my Dr goes in and my liver is too fatty, he won't perform the surgery. I don't want to come all this way to just be turned away on the operating table. Operation pre-op is in full effect!

Oh wow, mine never said anything about that. I'm still one visit before approval but I will definitely ask about it.

My doc wanted me to lose 10 pounds and I followed Bariatric Fusion's Liver Reduction Diet. I printed out their pdf and hung several of them all over my house! Its 3-4 Protein Shakes (their Orange and chocolate are tolerable- we have to remember it's a Protein Shake and not a meal! I made them with ice and non-fat milk = kinda milkshake-y ) and SF Jello, SF pops (tropical flavor!!) and homemade broth, V8 and low sugar cranberry juice. I lost 13.5 pounds! I had a few cheat days with roasted chicken breast and steamed veggies but overall I got used to it. I whined a bunch, work was sometimes frustrating and the cravings got insane at times but I kept my eye on the prize and I did get used to it. I went in a few weeks later and he was very pleased with the loss. I got submitted, approved and scheduled within three days!

You've come so far at this point. stay focused on what you want: slimmer happier healthier lighter (insert adjective here) and two weeks will fly by! Good luck to you!!

Mine is similar with a corollary of allowed extras. Photo of it follows.

why no coffee?

Caffeine is a mild inhibitor of the pre-op process and a diuretic with inappropriate timing.

Last two weeks = no coffee, no coffee-flavoured or chai-flavoured Protein Shakes.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
