Never ending period

Recommended Posts

HI ladies, I'm just checking in....my period is driving me crazy. It started July 31, then I got my IUD on August 1. Period ended about 7th. Started very light spotting around the 20th. Got heavier with darker flow, and I thought it was about over when I had my surgery on Aug 25. It got lighter again, and just when I thought it was gone, it was back, like it had never happened. It's been going on ever since. I don't know when this will ever end!!!

If this is TMI, I'm sorry. I'm going to my post-op appt tomorrow and will ask my surgeon if he knows what's going on.

I got my first iud years ago and it caused me to spot and have extra periods almost constantly for the first three months. Now nine weeks post surgery I'm back to spotting frequently with all the extra hormones as I lose weight.

I'm not aware of your age, but I had a month long heavy period with peri-menopause...ended up with a D/C. Always best to check with your GYN if you feel something is off. Hope things level out for you soon. I have no info on IUD, so can't help in that aspect.

Lets see, long before surgery I had a copper IUD inserted. Heavy periods for 6 months. Then back to normal.

Then after having surgery, I had a period every 2 weeks for over 12 months, when I was dropping weight fast. Now I am back to normal.

Combining those 2 things, IUD insertion and WLS seems like a nightmare. I hope you belong to Sam's or costco, because you are going to be using a lot of feminine products.

I have an IUD. never really got my period with it. Very light. 2 days after surgery I got a big surprise. It finally just stopped today 15 days post op. I'm assuming hormones and surgery messed things up a bit.

Well, I can relate to a lot of this. I had a period for two months last winter, which finally ended with a D & C. Then after my duodenal switch surgery, my period started in the hospital when they gave me the blood thinner shots and lasted for two weeks. However, I haven't had one since and that was back in June.

My period was off for weeks after my surgery. I got it the day after I was discharged and it lasted for 14 days, stopped for a week and came back again for another 12 days. Finally I got a two week break and back again. Our bodies went through some trauma with the surgery, I'm guessing it's that? Plus the weight loss.

I had heard some nightmare stories about IUD and I wanted another baby after surgery. I did the pill for almost 2 years. For the 6 weeks after surgery period was kind of strange. Then once I started pill it was normal. I went off pill and it was pretty regular for the 3 months before I got pregnant. Hope you get some relief.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
